Each kind of decision calls for a different kind of thinking and decision-making style. Traditionally, big companies are organized hierarchically, with authority allocated at each level of management down to the front line.
In theory, direction comes from the top and moves down through the company for implementation. The speed and complexity of the business environment challenges this way of assigning decision-making power because it is slow.
Still, this is the prevalent organizational style; even medium-sized companies lean toward using the combination of hierarchy and authority. Different organizational structures and sources may use different terminology.
Strategic decisions are executive-level decisions. Strategic decisions are made in every area, from IT information technologyHR human resourcesfinance, and CRM customer relationsfor example. Strategic decisions look ahead to the longer term and direct the company to its destiny. They tend to be high risk and high stakes. They are complex and rely on intuition supported by information based on analysis and experience.
When you face a strategic decision, you may have time to consider options reinforced by the gathered information, or you may have moments to decide. To make good strategic-level decisions, you need to be comfortable working with a lot of information and have the ability to see the interrelationships among the company and its employees, clients, suppliers, and the communities it reaches. You need to be collaborative, in touch with what is going on, open-minded, and flexible without being wishy-washy.
Tactical decisions translate strategic decisions into action. Tactical decisions are more straightforward and less complex than strategic-level decisions. Tactical decisions fall in the scope of middle management.
Middle managers are the proverbial meat in the sandwich; they make things happen. In vertically organized hierarchies, middle managers translate top-level decisions into goals that can be operationalized.
Operational and frontline decisions are made daily. Take mechanics, for example: A master mechanic is able to apply procedures and specifications to fix a problem, and his accumulated experiences and intuition strengthen his troubleshooting abilities. Detecting subtleties is an intuitive intelligence. The effect is faster and more accurate diagnosis or assessment of a particular situation. In psychologydecision-making also spelled decision making and decisionmaking is regarded as the cognitive process resulting in the selection of a belief or a course of action among several possible alternative options.
Decision-making is the process of identifying and choosing alternatives based on the valuespreferences and beliefs of the decision-maker.
Every decision-making process produces a final choicewhich may or may not prompt action. Research about decision-making is also published under the label problem solvingparticularly in European psychological research. Decision-making can be regarded as a problem-solving activity yielding a solution deemed to be optimal, or at least satisfactory. It is therefore a process which can be more or less rational or irrational and can be based on explicit or tacit knowledge and beliefs.
Tacit knowledge is often used to fill the gaps in complex decision making processes. A major part of decision-making involves the analysis of a finite set of alternatives described in terms of evaluative criteria. Then the task might be to rank these alternatives in terms of how attractive they are to the decision-maker s when all the criteria are considered simultaneously. Another task might be to find the best alternative or to determine the relative total priority of each alternative for instance, if alternatives represent projects competing for funds when all the criteria are considered simultaneously.
Solving such problems is the focus of multiple-criteria decision analysis MCDA. This area of decision-making, although very old, has attracted the interest of many researchers and practitioners and is still highly debated as there are many MCDA methods which may yield very different results when they are applied on exactly the same data.
Logical decision-making is an important part of all science-based professions, where specialists apply their knowledge in a given area to make informed decisions.
For example, medical decision-making often involves a diagnosis and the selection of appropriate treatment. But naturalistic decision-making research shows that in situations with higher time pressure, higher stakes, or increased ambiguities, experts may use intuitive decision-making rather than structured approaches. They may follow a recognition primed decision that fits their experience and arrive at a course of action without weighing alternatives.
The decision-maker's environment can play a part in the decision-making process. For example, environmental complexity is a factor that influences cognitive function. One experiment measured complexity in a room by the number of small objects and appliances present; a simple room had less of those things.
Cognitive function was greatly affected by the higher measure of environmental complexity making it easier to think about the situation and make a better decision. It is important to differentiate between problem solvingor problem analysis, and decision-making. Problem solving is the process of investigating the given information and finding all possible solutions through invention or discovery. Traditionally, it is argued that problem solving is a step towards decision making, so that the information gathered in that process may be used towards decision-making.
When a group or individual is unable to make it through the problem-solving step on the way to making a decision, they could be experiencing analysis paralysis.
Analysis paralysis is the state that a person enters where they are unable to make a decision, in effect paralyzing the outcome. On the opposite side of analysis paralysis is the phenomenon called extinction by instinct.
Extinction by instinct is the state that a person is in when they make careless decisions without detailed planning or thorough systematic processes.Everyone had stories to tell about their specific area which I found most enjoyable. I have travelled to many different parts of the world and Iceland is my new favorite destination largely due to the wonderful experience provided by Nordic Visitor and travel consultant Gudrun in particular.
Although I visited in an unusually cold and snowy May the beauty of Iceland and the warmth of the people will be in my heart forever. Thank you everyone for a glimpse into the life of an Icelander. I look forward to my next visit. The facilities were just great. We were impressed with all accommodations and how smooth everything was. The breakfasts were fabulous. Glacier walk so great too. We had the best time on our trip thanks to how seamless Nordic visitor made the whole experience from the moment we landed to checking out of the hotel on our last nights stay.
Typically you only hear when things were bad or negative. I am here to say this was so positive and seamless every step of the way. The driver who picked us up was great, kind and helpful. Each accommodation we stayed at had fabulous customer service and a welcoming staff not to mention awesome food.
Thanks to Larus and the team at Nordic Visitor for all they did to make this trip an experience of a lifetime. You guys made my trip seamless, easy and perfect. I can't imagine doing all the planning work myself. We were extremely impressed by the excellent service offered by Sigfus during the entire booking process. All our questions were promptly answered and appropriate web links sent with any extra information.
I suggest you could include EXCELLENT on your scale, above VERY GOOD. We have done quite a lot of travelling and have yet to find a more attentive and efficient travel agent.
We also very much appreciated the notices from your CEO about the impending strike action, which fortunately, did not go ahead - another impressive action on your part.If at least one event is predicted incorrectly, the parlay is lost. TYPES OF OUTCOMESThe main variants of outcomes for betting1.
For the victory of a bet with such outcome the victory of the first team or a draw is necessary. To win a bet with such outcome it is necessary that one of the competitors win, the game should not end in a draw. To win a bet with such outcome the second team must win or the game ends in a draw. Victory of the participant of competition taking into account the handicaps.
Handicap can be positive, negative or zero. The handicaps given to the participant are added to the corresponding result shown by the participant in the competition. Payments are made with the winning coefficient mentioned in the program. If the result is in favour of the competitor, the bets are lost.
Double bet of handicap is offered (Asian handicap). Bet on victory or total taking into account the handicap, this is the multiple of 0. In case when the Asian handicap is included in parlay or system, it is calculated with that odd which would be in case of a single bet. If both common bets are lost, the whole bet considered lost. In the line this quantity is called total for brevity. For winning it is necessary to guess, whether it will be scored more or less than total in the line, or exactly the specified quantity.
At definition of result, the game time is taken into account, according to these rules (see the point 2. At definition of individual totals only the balls kicked into the goals of the competitor are taken into account.
Two variants of betting are offered on total: by two (under or over) or by three (under, over or equal) outcomes. Also double bet of total is offered, which is a multiple of 0. The sum of each common bet is equal to the half sum of double bet. For example:Bet Sport event Double bet of total Odd Sum1 Milan - Juventus Over 2. One common bet of double total (Under 2) has won with the odd "1", and the other (Under 2. Two common bets of double total (Over 2.
Two common bets of double total (Under 2.It reminds me of Sugar Ray Leonard vs Marvin Hagler, two skilsters at the very highest level. Look how easily both have dealt with top opposition. Riga has much faster hands and being the bookies underdog might inspire him even more.
Too big, too fast, too young. If he connects clean, I can even see him stopping Rigondeaux. I think Rigondeaux wins a tight, thinking fight, rather than a physical fight.
He showed holes that Rigondeaux can exploit. Rigondeaux never fights, always boxes. I see him draining the Cuban and then overwhelming him. Joseph Agbeko (ex two time IBF bantam champion) told me Rigondeaux punches brutally hard. Lomachenko already has one loss on his record and will lose again. A good big fighter beats a good little fighter and Lomachenko could even stop him.
I see him winning by stoppage somewhere around the eighth or ninth. He attacks from angles rather than straight lines. Rigondeaux is very patient on the back foot and has exceptional timing but I think Lomachenko will be too busy and too big physically. What a match up. No one has more ability than this pair. Both have got talent pouring out of their ears. Both have got great attributes and can win any fight on their best day. Rigondeaux is the more experienced and very sharp. He might be able to catch Lomachenko and deliver the knockout blow.
So, IOW, after the fight ends, there will either be 11 experts who are no longer experts, or 3 experts who are no longer experts. My head is spinning. And someone posted yesterday that around the time of the weigh-in, Vegas odds were 2. He's too good for him.
